Description
Adjustable brass floor lamp model 1842 designed by Josef Frank for Svenskt Tenn in Sweden, 1950s.
One of the more classic lamps designed by renowned Austrian architect and designer Josef Frank, the model 1842 is crafted entirely from brass and features a sculptural design. The lamp features a height-adjustable brass stem (with a height range of 100-135 cm) which gradually shapes into the lamp’s notorious sculptural “tripod” base of three curved legs. Besides the height, the lamp also features an adjustable silk shade held by a short brass arm featuring the original manufacturer’s stamp ‘Svenskt Tenn G1842’. The shade’s angle can rotate, adjusting the light’s direction.
This lamp is a great example of the mid-century modern design style popularized by Josef Frank and is a timeless piece that will bring a touch of sophistication to any room.
