Description
Square flush mount ceiling lamp (model ‘H2-55/30’), produced by Idman in Finland, 1964. Made from white-lacquered metal. Removable metal grid. Manufacturer’s stamp to the base. The lamp supports a single lightbulb. In original condition with age-appropriate wear. Minor paint loss.
This lamp comes from Idman’s ‘H2’ ceiling lamp series made by the company in the 1960s. The ‘H2-55/30’ model number stands for a few factors of the given lamp. ‘H2′ stands for the lamp surface type, ’55’ stands for the lamp’s type number, and ’30’ is the lamp’s side length in centimeters. Generally, the ‘H2-55’ model included five length variations, being 15, 20, 25, 30, and 40, making this lamp the second largest.
The lamp’s design resembles Paavo Tynell’s ‘9068’ (Starry Sky) ceiling lamp or, for example, Alvar Aalto’s metal flush mount ceiling lamps, all manufactured by Idman in Finland.
