Pair of armchairs in honey sheepskin, model “Farmor”, designed by the Swedish designer Carl Malmsten and manufactured by O.H. Sjögren in Sweden, 1950s.

The iconic “Farmor” or “Grandmother” armchair model designed by renowned Swedish designer Carl Malmsten in the 1950s is among the most popular seating models he created. Carl Malmsten wanted this armchair to convey a distinct sense of warmth and comfort through its soft, rounded form. The chair’s design reveals the feminine nature and the sense of homecoming that are frequently associated with the term “grandma,” which is undoubtedly the reason why this particular model has been consistently adored for decades.

These Swedish armchairs are undeniably elegant in their appearance, featuring a classic Nordic look, which further explains their sheer popularity. The “Farmor” armchair model has a frame made of solid pine, a high back with its notable small “crown” and a small matching cushion on top, which is held in place by light cognac leather straps. This particular pair of armchairs was also newly reupholstered in honey sheepskin for utmost comfort and to further elevate each chair’s aesthetic, size and shape.
